For Those Who Doubt Its Speed, Watch The Shelby GT500 Clean Up On The Nurburgring

It gets taken to the Green Hell, where its 760 hp V8 can stretch its legs, and 160 mph arrives in the blink of an eye.

YouTube’s viewers familiar with automotive content tycoon Shmee150 will be aware of his Shelby GT500, a car he drove in the Gumbal 3000 rally and from coast to coast across the States.

It’s one of the most powerful and impressive muscle cars on sale in the US, and offers speed inline with supercars, while featuring up to 4 seats and an useable trunk.

In this latest installment, Shmee150 takes his Shelby Ford Mustang to Germany to the Nürburgring to let it stretch its legs and see how it performs, where its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 will be able to put out most of its 760 hp and shout through its loud stock exhaust – there’s just one problem: it may be too loud for Europe.

Taking The Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 To The Nürburgring

In Europe, you can cross countries simply by driving, and with the right car you can make swift progress. Shmee150 finds himself in the Eifel mountains to race at the Nürburgring.

This up to 4-mile circuit is a proving ground for manufacturers and dream destination for gearheads, with many performance cars getting refined on its surface and comparing times with the latest benchmark.

Shmee150 arrives in his Shelby GT500, which features the carbon track package and looks great with its front slitter, carbon wheels, rear wing and interior roll cage; but he’s worried about the sound. Regulations are usually тιԍнтer in Europe and the US’ loud standard exhaust might get him thrown off the track – luckily this never transpires.

After pᴀssing the barriers Shmee gets going at half-throttle to get readjusted to both the car and the track experience.

The Shelby GT500 Is Faster Than Some Supercars

With a 0-60 mph time the same as a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS, the Mustang is quick, and its chᴀssis is also surprisingly compliant and grippy, making light work of some more risky overtaking work as Shmee goes around all the machines that come into view.

After the first lap, Shmee’s second features full-on track mode and a foot planted rather than at half-mast, which reveals the real potential of the Shelby. He still holds back a little, but on one of the sections, 160 mph comes around before he starts to brake.

Afterward, our host debriefs, happy with the car and stating that the only issue was a traffic jam leaving the complex afterward – such are the Easter queues at Green Hell.
