At the famous Fuji racecourse in Japan where the Super Taikyu Fuji 24 Hours race is taking place, Toyota has brought to display a very remarkable model that is the sedan version of the new Toyota Crown.
In the latest generation, Toyota Crown has up to 4 body configurations, in which the SUV version was first announced when this name line was launched globally last year. The sedan has been revealed with almost similar features to the crossover, except for the lower chᴀssis and typical sedan structure.
The front of the Toyota Crown sedan has a large vertical spokes radiator with black chrome trim, 4 LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, vertical air vents on both sides, a sports front bumper and the exclusive crown logo of this name.
In the opposite direction, the slender horizontal light bar runs through the rear trunk with integrated LED taillights, brake lights and turn signals. The equipment is darkened to adorn the overall look, including side mirrors, handles, rear bumper, and ceiling. 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof are some other notable exterior elements.
The chᴀssis Toyota Crown sedan uses is the same type of TNGA-L as the Lexus LS, giving the car a length of 5,030 mm, a width of 1,890 mm and a height of 1,470 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The interior of the Toyota Crown sedan is no different from the crossover version with the biggest highlight still being the exclusive crown logo. The dashboard is equipped with a pair of 12.3-inch copper screens that support Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto with up to 11 JBL speakers.
The powertrain Toyota Crown sedan uses is a hybrid that combines a 2.5L engine with 186 hp and 221 Nm with an electric motor in front of 88 hp / 202 Nm and a motor at the back of 40 hp / 121 Nm. Total system power is 249 hp.
However, the version present at the Fuji racetrack has its own special feature, that is, this powertrain runs on hydrogen fuel. In charge of transmission is a permanent magnetic motor 182 hp, 300 Nm. The 141-liter fuel tank allows this version to run up to 850 km before needing to be recharged.
Toyota Crown Sedan will officially open for sale in Japan from September next.
