It was a heartbreaking sight: a German Shepherd was spotted wandering around on her own in the streets of Detroit, with nothing but her favorite stuffed animal to keep her company. But now, this beautiful dog is safe and sound after being rescued.
As the dog’s story spread, a number of local groups — including It Is Pawzable Dog Training, South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery, Sugar Mutts Dog Grooming, and Almost Home Animal Rescue — came together to trap the dog and get her to safety. “Everybody comes together and works as a team, which is so amazing,” Katrina Weaver, the owner of It Is Pawzable, told FOX 2.
“Only good things from here and onto a better life!” the rescue wrote on Facebook. “Thanks for all your support Nikki will now get to be in a loving home!”There is one complication: Nikki reportedly has heartworm, which will require four weeks of treatment.
We’re so glad this beautiful dog is safe and sound now, with her beloved stuffed animal ❤️ Hope Nikki recovers and finds a great new home soon!
