The Okaloosa Island CARE Gulfarium in Florida is an adventure park home to many a beloved sea creature, but they’re also driven by the goal of protecting sea turtles.
While it’s not uncommon for these lovely creatures to need their help, a recent patient of theirs garnered quite some attention. The sea turtle was lovingly named Large Marge, and she was finally released on July 13.
Seeing as Large Marge is quite a big deal, she couldn’t return to the ocean without a little fanfare. A parade was orchestrated to celebrate this moment, an event that drew the attention of both locals and visitors to Destin.
Naturally, it took place on a local community beach.A path was made for Large Marge to slowly make her way to the ocean. A crowd of supporters stood on the sidelines, cheering her on as she ventured back into her home.
Although Marge can’t talk, we’d like to think that if she could, she would have thanked everyone for their support!
Watch Large Marge made her triumphant journey back to the sea in the video below.
