The $1.6 Million Agera RS Supercar is Sold Out

When Christian Koenigsegg followed his dream back in 1994 of launching his own car company he had one mission in mind: To create the perfect supercar. Christian and his team just may have achieved that lofty goal when word recently came out of Sweden that his Koenigsegg Agera RS is a complete sellout.

Koenigsegg let the world know that all 25 of the $1.6 million Agera RS supercars will find new homes by their 2017 completion. Why the sellout and the enthusiasm of the uber wealthy supercar aficionado? One look at the power and style of this rocket and you quickly see why all the clamor.

As the Agera evolves so does the engineering. The Agera RS is built with a 5.0 liter V8 putting out 1,160 HP and going 0 to 186mph in a jaw-dropping 14 seconds. As with the current generation of supercars, aerodynamics and weight play a critical role. The Agera RS with its blazing power weighs in at 3,075 pounds.

Regarding aerodynamics, the Agera RS has a revised package that includes a new splitter, side skirts, under tray and re-tooled active rear spoiler. While the style of the supercar is stunning, the design is all about aerodynamics. To gain the edge Koenigsegg likes to say that the Agera RS “is body design sculpted by aerodynamic efficiency.”

Koenigsegg takes pride in that they consider each car hand crafted. And well they are. To build the Agera RS engineers consult with new owners on any small tweaks to their personal masterpiece that might be practical, advantageous and within the spirit of the original design.

The manufacture and ᴀssembly of components used to build the Koenigsegg Agera RS are an incredibly labor-intensive processes – there are more than 300 hand-formed carbon fiber parts alone in each car, all formed and made in their facility. Any specialty components come from a network of suppliers, all located in Sweden. Local part sources allow Koenigsegg the opportunity to have a close rein on quality control. Many outsource suppliers are small companies and craftsmen that produce low volumes of extremely high-quality components.

In a statement last week, Christian Koenigsegg expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing development of his supercar. He said, “I am extremely proud of the Agera RS program. The performance, road feel, and responsiveness are truly amazing and the level of technical sophistication is second to none.”

If you want to be on the lookout in the future to lay your eyes on the Agera RS, Koenigsegg has revealed that orders will be shipped to new owners in North America, Great Britain, Asia and the Middle East.
